Theatre Lighting Design Software Free

Software for free is a selection of freeware program for PC computer. Download free video editing, photo, design, antivirus, recovery, DVD, music, burning, PDF, converter, audio, recording software for free.

Hello, I'm Chris Boltz. I am a full time faculty member here at College of the Canyons. When not teaching, I worked as a free-lance lighting designer, and stage manager. I am really looking forward to starting you on your path to being a member of a lighting team for the entertainment industry.

In a hybrid section each week we will have some textbook reading, and some exploration of the lighting process for theatre. There will be discussion boards, small projects, and some small open book review quizzes. On Lab days, we will meet in STCN 130 and work with lights, light boards, wrenches, power cable and more to develop some concrete skills in hanging, focusing and programming lights. We will also do some small experiments with lighting color and angle so that you can understand why a lighting designer you are working with might make certain decisions.

We will have the opportunity to use some industry specific software to learn some light board programming. It will run on a windows computer (Windows 7 64-bit (or higher), Multicore processor with clock frequency higher than 2.0 GHz, 3.5GB free disk space (or higher), Screen resolution of 1920x1080 (or higher), 2GB of RAM (or higher), 64MB video card (or higher)) or an apple computer ( OS X Mojave (10.14) (or higher), Multicore processor with clock frequency higher than 2.0 GHz, 3.5GB free disk space (or higher), Screen resolution of 1920x1080 (or higher), 2GB of RAM (or higher), 64MB video card (or higher)) This software is FREE to students. If you do not have access to a computer that can run this software, that is fine, you will have opportunities to use it durring lab -- just please let me know.

I am also seeking permission to use a 3D drafting program with a theatrical lighting simulator in it. If we get permission, it is also free to students! It requires a computer with the following specifications: Operating System (Mac OS 10.15 or later or Windows 10 (64-bit) or later), Processor (Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5, or better or Apple M1 or higher), RAM: 8GB or more, Display (1440x900 or higher), Hard disk (10GB or more). Again, there are alternatives if you do not have access to a computer that can run this software, just let me know. (Note: Check back here, and I will update the letter as I have more information).

The Design application (costume, lighting, projection, set and sound) includes a required statement of purpose, résumé, one letter of recommendation, in addition to the name and address of two other references, and an academic transcript and the submission of a portfolio. If specified below, applicants should submit a digital portfolio through the online application. No video or other digital imagery will be accepted as part of a set design applicant's portfolio. All such materials will not be reviewed.

A lighting design applicant who is unable to submit a digital portfolio should mail the portfolio to the Design department by February 1. (Design Program, David Geffen School of Drama, PO Box 208244, New Haven CT 06520)

A portfolio should only be mailed to the Design department if the lighting design applicant cannot schedule an in-person interview in New Haven. The digital portfolio submitted online does not suffice by itself. Every piece in the portfolio must be marked with the applicant's name, the name of the play, the date of creation, and whether it was realized in production. If the portfolio needs to be returned, a $20 handling fee must be included in the portfolio to cover the return shipping unless the applicant retrieves it in person. Portfolios are returned after the review process is completed.

It has seven unique yet inter-related concentrations in: Arts + Entertainment Technology, Costume Design + Technology, Lighting Design + Technology, Scene Design, Scenic Technology, Sound Design + Technology, and Stage Management. Freshman and sophomore students learn the foundations of theatrical production with a focus on acquiring practical skills for application in advanced course work and in theatre productions. Junior and senior students participate in advanced study in their chosen discipline supported by one-on-one faculty mentoring of assigned projects.
